Cambodian Ministry Expands Vocational Training, Offering 545 Courses to Over 12,000 Trainees
PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (MLVT) announced it has rolled out 545 vocational training courses, benefiting over 12,112 trainees across the country as of February 18th.
Secretary of State and Spokesperson Kata Orn provided the update, further detailing the training breakdown. Among the diverse skillsets covered, 125 courses focus on construction, while others address fields like electricity, electronics, manufacturing, mechanics, business, IT, service, air conditioning, tourism, and agriculture.
To encourage broader participation, the MLVT has launched awareness campaigns across various platforms including Facebook, Telegram, YouTube, and TikTok. The initiative also includes home visits targeting families facing financial hardship.
Mr. Orn urged more young people to take advantage of this government-backed opportunity, reminding them that registration remains open. Options include utilizing the "TVET 1.5M" mobile app or contacting individual Institutes for Vocational Training directly. This large-scale initiative follows the official launch of Prime Minister Hun Manet's "TVET 1.5M" program on November 14th, 2023. The program aims to equip 1.5 million youths from underprivileged backgrounds with valuable vocational skills, empowering them to contribute to Cambodia's economic development.
